Hancock Nursery School values self-expression through music, movement, science, and art. Consequently, we supplement our curriculum with special teachers and programs whenever possible. Two programs that are always part of the HNS curriculum are Music with Philip and Movement with Miss Marilyn.
Music with Philip. Twice a month, a music teacher comes to HNS to conduct half hour music sessions for each group at school. Research shows that early music exposure helps children develop language, math and socialization skills, and improve motor coordination. But best of all, the kids love it!
Movement with Miss Marilyn. In addition, a movement teacher comes to the school twice a month on different days from the music teacher to conduct half hour sessions for each classroom. In these classes, children enjoy songs that ask them to dance, move and swing around, jump, twist, and clap their hands. They play "follow-the-leader" and marching games that help them learn the different ways their bodies can keep time with a song. Self-expression, language skills, gross motor skills are all enhanced by this wonderful class.
