Indoor Space
The school has five well-equipped, bright, and cheerful classrooms. Each classroom is set-up with play areas that may include sand and water play, blocks, a dress-up or pretend play area, a doll corner, arts and crafts tables, easels, science center, and a quiet corner for enjoying books and tapes. Most classrooms also has a built-in loft which provides children with extra space for quiet activities or which can serve as ships, planes, castles, and forts during their imaginative play.
The Bike Room is a fabulous indoor hall available for daily bike riding and gross motor play. "The Bike Room" provides an excellent alternative to the outdoor playground so that even in inclement weather the children have the opportunity to get moving and work off some energy! The school also reserves another large room in the church for music, gym and yoga classes.
Outdoor Space
Hancock Nursery School's outdoor space has recently been updated to include a new play structure with climbing equipment for all ages, a slide, several activity panels, and gliders. The fenced playground also provides room for sand and water play, group activities, independent climbing, and pretend play.
Hancock Nursery School is conveniently located across from the Battle Green in Lexington Center. Our location enables us to take advantage of the Lexington Green for fun activities and picnics and take special excursions to the public library and other neighborhood attractions. We are truly fortunate to be situated close to all that Lexington Center has to offer.
